But we saved everything 🙂.
The developers of the meme coin Dogwifhat have confirmed that the much-hyped advertising deal, which aimed to display the Dogwifhat image on the world’s largest spherical screen — MSG Sphere, also known as the Las Vegas Sphere — has fallen through. Starting Tuesday, community members who collectively raised nearly $700,000 for the campaign about a year ago will be able to request refunds.
Back in late January, Dogwifhat’s official X account hinted that the token would appear on the Las Vegas Sphere sometime in Q1 2025. However, campaign organizers now admit the plan has failed, blaming the fallout on media coverage that allegedly scared off the Sphere’s management.
“We had contracts signed through a fashion partner with The Sphere, and everything was lined up to put the hat on the Sphere in Q1 using our classic guerrilla marketing style. But the announcement had unforeseen consequences, and the DecryptMedia article spooked our partner,” wrote GamesMaster.wif (aka Edward), who runs a prominent Dogwifhat account.

The ad campaign was set to be executed via an unnamed fashion industry company, but according to Decrypt, the deal was never finalized. The owners of the Las Vegas Sphere reportedly decided to work exclusively with crypto exchanges and Bitcoin.
In July of last year, the Sphere ran an ad for Crypto.com. Dogwifhat later made a second attempt to get exposure by partnering with a musician scheduled to perform at the venue — but that plan also collapsed.
Ultimately, the failed marketing stunt damaged Dogwifhat’s reputation. The meme coin lost its billion-dollar market cap and dropped out of the top 100 cryptocurrencies — sliding from #82 in January to #113.
Organizers now admit that the $700,000 raised for the Sphere campaign became “a shadow hanging over the token,” as community frustration boiled over — with many users sending hate messages and insults to the organizers on social media.
Fortunately, the funds have remained fully traceable on the Solana blockchain, visible via Solscan. The $697,800 in USDC is still held in the original multi-signature wallet, requiring several signers to authorize any movement.
Refunds will now be distributed to contributors — and Dogwifhat is hoping this marks the beginning of a brighter chapter in the token’s journey.
As we wrote, at the start of last year, the Dogwifhat community raised $650,000 through crowdfunding to display the token’s logo on MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, the world's largest spherical building. The campaign generated hype and helped WIF hit an all-time high of $4.83 in March 2024. A similar ad by Crypto.com, featuring Bitcoin, was successfully showcased on the Sphere in July 2024.
