Cortex AI: Crypto.com’s vision to merge blockchain and AI with autonomous agents
Crypto.com, the Singaporean cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its roadmap for 2025.
Among projects such as the development of its own stablecoin, a CRO ETF application, and new financial divisions, the community's attention was drawn to plans for a Cortex AI platform.
While Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek refrained from providing specific details about Cortex AI, he compared it to the recently launched AI Agent SDK, which allows developers to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities for data queries, wallet management, portfolio tracking, and content monetization tasks.
However, Marszalek emphasized that Cortex AI will significantly enhance these capabilities, making it "extremely beneficial for the CRONOS ecosystem." During a recent AMA session, Marszalek described Cortex AI as one of Crypto.com's most ambitious undertakings, aiming to merge AI and cryptocurrency through "autonomous AI agents."
The CEO also expressed his belief that we are witnessing a transformation where cryptocurrency is evolving beyond speculation into an intelligent, adaptive technological frontier.
The AI and Blockchain Duo
Projects combining AI and blockchain are at the cutting edge of today’s technology landscape. However, a recent KPMG report highlights that 92% of surveyed executives consider AI adoption a moderate to high risk.
In this context, blockchain is seen as a mechanism for AI oversight, providing security and tools to mitigate potential challenges.
The network will also feature "alignment nodes," allowing participants to own a portion of critical infrastructure.
The project is also attractive because, as 0G Labs CEO Michael Heinrich believes, centralized AI systems pose significant risks if they are not integrated with blockchain technology.
Decentralized governance of AI systems helps prevent their potential misuse in critical areas. According to Heinrich, one of the main advantages of blockchain technology is its ability to make AI systems more transparent and accountable for their actions.
