What's behind Tezos's latest 11.1% price surge?
Tezos surges 11.08% today to $0.2736

Tezos (XTZ) jumped 11.08% as custody service expansion by Anchorage Digital Bank fuels institutional confidence in the Tezos ecosystem. The rally is supported by the price pushing above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, though a longer-term bearish trend remains in place as XTZ still sits below its 200-day average.

Highlights

  • Anchorage Digital Bank has expanded crypto custody to Etherlink, allowing institutional clients to hold Tezos ecosystem assets including wrapped and staking tokens.
  • The expansion meets institutional demand for regulated access to Tezos-based yield products and tokenized commodities.
  • XTZ/USD shows short- and medium-term upward momentum but remains below long-term resistance, with a forecasted trading range of $0.24085 to $0.3156 over the next five days.

Broader custody access spurs institutional inflows toward Tezos assets

Anchorage Digital Bank has broadened its crypto custody services to include assets on Etherlink, a Tezos-based Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible layer-2 network. Institutional clients are now able to securely hold assets such as wrapped Tezos (WXTZ), liquid staking token stXTZ, wrapped Ether (WETH), and tokenized commodities within the Tezos ecosystem. This move responds to rising demand from institutions for regulated and robust access to Tezos-based yield-generating and tokenized products.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the XTZ rally with caution. He notes that while short-term momentum has turned, the long-term bearish bias persists as XTZ trades below its 200-day moving average. Institutional custody expansion boosts sentiment but cannot outweigh structural weaknesses. Divergence between momentum indicators and oscillator exhaustion signals risk of overextension. "Investors should be wary of chasing upside here, as technical and sentiment headwinds remain significant," Kharitonov says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights Anchorage Digital's move as a major boost for Tezos fundamentals. He believes regulated custody for Etherlink assets is ushering in a new wave of institutional adoption and unlocking new product opportunities. The recent price jump and dominant buyer momentum reinforce the bullish structure. "With further growth expected as regulated access expands, the market offers bullish setups around $0.2725 support and a potential breakout above $0.2901315," Karapetjanc states.
Jainam Mehta, market strategist, sees XTZ in a tactical consolidation after a strong move. He observes that the MACD and price action favor buyers above short-term averages, but long-term resistance remains at $0.2901315. Mehta notes the oversold Stochastic RSI could trigger a contrarian pullback. "If price holds $0.2725, traders may watch for either a momentum breakout or a mean-reversion short as oscillators unwind," Mehta advises.

Short-term momentum persists amid resistance test and volatility divergence

XTZ/USD is currently trading above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages at $0.242135 and $0.222264, but remains below its 200-day moving average at $0.2901315. This configuration shows short- and medium-term positive momentum, with the long-term trend still tilted bearish. Near-term support is at $0.2725, and resistance sits at $0.2901315. Momentum signals are broadly positive, as the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) gives a strong buy reading and the Average Directional Index (ADX) forecasts further upside action. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 53.39, indicating neutral conditions, while the Stochastic RSI is oversold at 0, signaling possible exhaustion after the latest move. The Bull/Bear Power (BBP) shows buyers now dominate intraday momentum, though the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) and Awesome Oscillator remain neutral. XTZ/USD has advanced $0.0273 or 11.08% today with an upside gap of about 3.41%, positioning the price near session highs as intraday volatility stands at 8.09%. The overall intraday tone reflects strength toward the highs, yet there is notable divergence as some oscillators hint at overextension.

Earlier, analysts noted that institutional custody expansion and renewed demand were driving a shift toward short-term bullish momentum in the Tezos market. The latest breakout is supported by additional volatility and momentum signals, making the $0.2901315 resistance a pivotal level for traders to watch in the coming sessions.
