Analysts cite technical breakout and macro support
Min Jung, research associate at Presto Research, says there is no single catalyst behind the move, but points to renewed risk appetite, strong spot ETF demand and short covering after bitcoin breaks above key technical levels. Jung adds that the unusually large ETF inflows likely add momentum by signaling renewed institutional demand.Jeff Ko, chief analyst at ViaBTC, says the price action appears to be a technical breakout after bitcoin clears the $82,000 level that had capped the market earlier. Jeff Mei, chief operating officer of BTSE, says institutional investors are returning because of lower oil prices, easing Treasury yields and a planned meeting this week between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping that could affect AI, trade and the Iran conflict.
John of Zeus says positive funding rates and elevated open interest point to renewed long exposure, while continued short liquidations and persistent spot demand could extend the rally. Traders are now watching whether bitcoin holds above $85,000 and ethereum above $2,700, with sustained ETF inflows seen as a sign of underlying demand.
