Crypto.com has yet to launch promised AI agent eight months later
Crypto.com is still developing its personal AI agent, Ai.com, which the company said would be able to perform a wide range of tasks, from trading stocks to updating profiles on dating apps. Nearly eight months have passed since the project made a high-profile debut during the Super Bowl, but the full service has yet to launch.
According to Cointelegraph, Ai.com, a separate business line of Crypto.com, introduced the platform in February through a $15 million ad aired during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. Interest was so strong that the project’s website crashed within minutes after the commercial aired, as users rushed to reserve names for their future AI agents.
However, almost eight months later, the website still says that agent generation has been queued due to high demand.
A Crypto.com spokesperson confirmed that development of the platform is ongoing. According to the company, Ai.com is still operating in stealth mode, with more details to be disclosed once the service fully launches to the public.
Competitors have already launched their own AI agents
While Crypto.com continues to develop Ai.com, other crypto and financial platforms have already started offering AI assistants, although their capabilities are still largely focused on trading and portfolio management.
Robinhood on Tuesday introduced in-app AI agents capable of automatically executing trades. Kraken added AI-powered tools in July to help users identify investment opportunities based on their financial goals. In June, Bitget launched its own crypto trading assistant, GetAgent.
Crypto.com expects Ai.com to offer much broader capabilities. When announcing the platform, the company said personal agents would be able to organize work, send messages, interact with different applications and build projects.
The developers also said the agents would be able to develop missing capabilities on their own and share those improvements with other agents across the network.
At the same time, major AI companies have significantly expanded the capabilities of their own products in recent months. Anthropic added computer-use features to Claude Cowork in March, while OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work in July to handle multistep tasks across connected apps and files.
Crypto.com continues to invest in AI
Despite the delay with Ai.com, Crypto.com has already launched several other products related to artificial intelligence. In March, the company integrated OpenClaw, allowing users to deploy personal AI trading agents that can execute trades.
That same month, Crypto.com announced a workforce reduction of about 12%. The company said the cuts were linked to broader AI integration and the reallocation of resources toward key growth areas.
In February, Crypto.com also obtained ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, an international standard for AI management systems covering governance, responsible development and deployment.
Why AI agents are trending now
Interest in AI agents is growing because the market is gradually shifting from chatbots that only answer questions to systems that can independently take action. These agents can work with applications, search for information, send messages, analyze data, manage files and complete sequences of tasks without constant user involvement.
For technology companies, this represents the next stage of AI development after the mass adoption of generative models. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and other developers are expanding the capabilities of their systems, while financial platforms are using agents for trading, portfolio management and identifying investment opportunities. As a result, competition is increasingly shifting from the quality of individual answers to how much real work AI can take over.
Previously, OpenAI launched voice assistants as part of its expansion in the AI agent market.
