Sei drops more than 10% after pronounced selling pressure and bearish technical signals
Sei slides 10.11% today to $0.0621

Sei (SEI) slumped 10.11% on pronounced selling pressure, as technical signals pointed to a short-term downside bias. The decline looks limited, with the price holding above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages and nearby support levels providing a stabilizing influence.

Highlights

  • SEI/USD trades below its 20-day moving average but holds above medium- and long-term levels, suggesting underlying bullish support.
  • Momentum indicators are mixed, with some showing strengthening buying interest and others indicating an oversold condition and potential rebound.
  • Expected range for the next five trading days is $0.0541 to $0.0669, with 67% probability of an upward move.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees SEI's 10.11% drop as a clear warning sign. He notes that while price hovers above the 50- and 200-day moving averages, this does little to ease short-term downside pressure. The lack of supporting news further erodes buyer confidence and raises concerns about the sustainability of recent inflows. Technicals show conflicting momentum, suggesting vulnerability rather than strength, especially as RSI fails to confirm a rebound despite oversold readings. "Until SEI can reclaim key resistance and attract clear catalysts, traders should stay defensive and manage risk tightly," Kharitonov warns.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, maintains that SEI's bullish structure remains intact over the medium term. He points out that the asset's resilience above its 50- and 200-day moving averages signals ongoing institutional confidence. Although the recent price drop is notable, consolidation above $0.0604 supports a constructive outlook. Forward indicators like stochastic RSI and continued intraday buyer presence suggest further growth is likely. "I see SEI as well positioned for a rebound, with the market offering multiple setups for upside participation in the coming sessions," Karapetjanc asserts.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, highlights persistent volatility and mixed technical signals in SEI. He is cautious about the absence of positive fundamental or sentiment drivers during this decline, pointing to fragile market conviction. Dele believes that near-term stability is uncertain as price action could easily break lower if support fails. "Without new momentum or favorable macro signals, I fear SEI's consolidation is merely masking deeper downside risk," Dele says.

Mixed momentum signals emerge as price stabilizes above long-term support

SEI/USD is trading below its 20-day moving average (MA-20) at $0.0704, while remaining above both the 50-day (MA-50) at $0.0567 and 200-day (MA-200) at $0.054. This setup highlights recent near-term selling but points to underlying bullishness over medium and long horizons, which is also reflected in the 50-day average holding above the 200-day. The nearest resistance is at $0.0625 and immediate support at $0.0604, with the Ichimoku Kijun at $0.0647 presenting additional resistance. Momentum indicators give mixed signals: MACD and ADX suggest growing bullish momentum, RSI is neutral at 51.7 with a buying bias, and Stochastic RSI at 0 indicates oversold conditions and potential for a bounce. Other signals including CCI and Awesome Oscillator are neutral, while BBP suggests buyers still have an intraday advantage. Trading is volatile with a 7.45% range, and price action has stabilized mid-range after early declines, with technicals showing diverging momentum.

Earlier, analysts noted that Sei was under sustained technical pressure with short-term downside risks dominating the outlook. The latest analysis adds nuance to this view, highlighting a shift toward mixed momentum signals and identifying $0.0604 as a critical level to monitor for either a renewed upward move or fresh declines in the days ahead.
