Binance.US seeks funding round at $1 billion valuation
Binance.US eyes $1B raise

Private capital is again becoming a focus for crypto firms as exchanges look to rebuild scale after regulatory setbacks and a weaker funding environment. Binance.US is seeking to raise up to $100 million in a round that could value the company at $1 billion, far below the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation it reached in 2022.

Highlights

  • Binance.US is seeking to raise up to $100 million in private investment at a sharply reduced $1 billion valuation, down from $4.5 billion in 2022.
  • The exchange informed World Liberty Financial about the round, but the Trump-linked crypto platform will not participate amid continued regulatory scrutiny.
  • The fundraising aims to help Binance.US regain U.S. market share after Binance Holdings Ltd.'s $4.3 billion 2023 settlement and additional regulatory oversight.

Funding plans and valuation reset

As reported by Cointelegraph, citing Bloomberg, Binance.US is pursuing private investment as it looks to expand its business in the U.S. crypto market. The exchange is reportedly seeking up to $100 million, with the proposed round implying a $1 billion valuation.

That marks a sharp drop from the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation Binance.US secured in 2022, when it raised $200 million in seed funding. The reported fundraising effort suggests the company is trying to restore momentum after a prolonged period of operational and regulatory pressure.

Competitive pressure and regulatory overhang

Binance.US reportedly told World Liberty Financial, the crypto platform co-founded by U.S. President Donald Trump and his sons, about the fundraising, but the company will not participate. The development follows scrutiny tied to a separate $2 billion investment last year between an entity linked to United Arab Emirates royalty and World Liberty using the platform's USD1 stablecoin.

The proposed round is part of Binance.US' effort to regain market share from larger rivals after Binance Holdings Ltd. reached a 2023 settlement with U.S. authorities. Under that agreement, Binance Holdings accepted $4.3 billion in penalties and additional monitoring and oversight, while former Chief Executive Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a felony charge and later served four months in prison before receiving a pardon from Trump in 2025.
