FinChain partners with Plume to launch RWA yield strategy targeting 7.2%
FinChain has partnered with blockchain platform Plume to launch FLEX & FINO, a leveraged yield strategy built around tokenized U.S. Treasury assets. The product aims to generate additional returns by combining income from real-world assets with borrowing and liquidity provision in decentralized finance.
Highlights
- FinChain and Plume launched the FLEX & FINO yield strategy.
- The product targets up to 7.2% APY using FUSD and USDC.
- Leveraged borrowing introduces additional financial risks.
According to a company press release, FLEX & FINO uses FinChain Dollar (FUSD), an interest-bearing token backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries and regulated money market funds. The companies say the strategy could deliver an annual percentage yield of up to 7.2% under baseline assumptions, although actual returns will depend on market conditions, borrowing costs and liquidity.
How the FUSD leveraged yield strategy works
The product uses a borrowing strategy involving FUSD and USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin. Investors provide FUSD as collateral, continue earning income associated with its underlying assets, and borrow USDC against their holdings. The borrowed tokens are then deployed into liquidity pools to generate additional returns.
FinChain says FUSD maintains a minimum collateralization ratio of 100%, with its reserve assets held by designated custodians. The income supporting the token comes from those reserves, while the leveraged strategy introduces a separate source of potential yield.
FLEX & FINO applies a 90% utilization cap intended to limit borrowing exposure. Redemptions follow a T+2 settlement schedule, while interest payments are settled within periods ranging from 14 to 30 days. The companies have not disclosed how the projected return would change under sharply higher borrowing costs or reduced liquidity.
Partnership expands tokenized asset applications
The launch is the first product announced under the strategic partnership between FinChain and Plume. The companies developed the strategy through technical discussions covering asset integration, financial modeling, and risk controls.
Plume provides blockchain infrastructure designed to make institutional assets available through programmable financial applications. Under the partnership, total value locked in FLEX & FINO will be reported through the Partner Protocol and Nest Protocol categories.
FinChain has also integrated with cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin, allowing FUSD to participate in its RCMS staking mirror solution. The arrangement expands potential collateral applications for the token beyond the newly introduced yield strategy.
Higher returns introduce additional financial risks
The product illustrates how tokenized Treasury holdings are increasingly being used as collateral for more complex blockchain-based financial strategies. Rather than simply distributing income from underlying securities, FLEX & FINO seeks to increase returns through borrowing and liquidity deployment.
That approach also creates risks absent from a straightforward Treasury investment. Changes in borrowing rates, collateral values, liquidity pool performance, or smart-contract security could reduce returns or cause losses. The stated 7.2% APY is a projection, not a guaranteed payout.
The strategy's performance will depend on whether its additional income compensates investors for those exposures. Its launch provides another example of traditional financial assets entering decentralized markets, but sustained adoption will require evidence of reliable settlements, transparent reserves, and effective risk management.
