Aave Labs is expanding its onchain lending offering by acquiring the team and technology behind Avon. The deal adds fixed- and floating-rate lending protocols, an onchain order book and related assets as Aave pushes deeper into products aimed at institutions, fintechs and retail users.

Highlights

  • Aave Labs acquired Avon's fixed- and floating-rate lending protocols, onchain order book, domains, and assets; financial terms were not disclosed.
  • The Avon team, including founders Prince Sinha and Ayush Kaul, joins Aave Labs to expand fixed-rate lending capabilities as the network targets broader loan options.
  • Aave, with over $30 billion in deposits and $12 billion in active loans, aims to attract more institutional and retail borrowers by integrating fixed-rate lending infrastructure.

Acquisition adds fixed-rate lending capabilities

As reported by The Block, Aave Labs said on Friday that the acquisition covers Avon’s fixed- and floating-rate lending protocols, its onchain order book, domains and related assets. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Aave said the Avon team will initially focus on building fixed-rate lending as the network broadens the loan options available to users.

Under the agreement, Prince Sinha and Ayush Kaul are joining Aave Labs’ engineering team, while Omar el-Ashaal is joining the business development team as an associate. Avon was founded by Sinha and developed lending markets centered on fixed and floating rates, alongside an order book intended for new onchain lending structures.

Aave Labs CEO Stani Kulechov said fixed rates are among the financial products users already depend on and fit the company’s goal of widening access to finance. He added that the Avon team has worked on difficult onchain lending problems and will help Aave reach institutions, fintechs and everyday users globally.

Scale and market implications for onchain lending

Aave said the transaction supports its effort to extend the range of lending products on its network, particularly in an area that could make decentralized borrowing more predictable for users. Avon’s work also includes interest-rate pricing, risk isolation and lending market design, which may support product development beyond fixed-rate loans.

According to the company, Aave is the largest onchain lending network, with more than $30 billion in deposits and over $12 billion in active loans. Adding fixed-rate infrastructure could strengthen its position in crypto lending as platforms compete to attract a wider mix of institutional and retail borrowers.
