Trump administration embraces blockchain to secure and share GDP data
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick announced at a government meeting that his department will begin publishing its statistical data, including GDP figures, on the blockchain, calling President Trump a “crypto president.”
According to Lutnick, the initiative aims to improve data dissemination by leveraging the transparency, accessibility, and immutability inherent in blockchain technology.
He said the Department of Commerce’s plan will start with GDP data but is expected to expand to other federal agencies.
“We will make this available to the entire government so each of you can use it,” said Lutnick, adding that officials are currently finalizing the details of the program.

Publishing economic data via blockchain will make its distribution transparent and resistant to unauthorized access.
If implemented, this program will become one of the first large-scale applications of blockchain technology in U.S. government economic statistics.
Speaking about the plan, Lutnick emphasized the concept by referring to Donald Trump as “the cryptocurrency president.”
