But we saved everything 🙂.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin joined the debate sparked by ChatGPT’s recent update, which introduced full support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools.
According to Aito Miyamura, co-founder and CEO of EdisonWatch, an AI-driven data management platform, the update left ChatGPT vulnerable to exploitation. He claimed that attackers could “extract all your personal information” using just an email address.
In a post on X, Miyamura explained how malicious actors could gain access to sensitive data in just three steps.
Buterin shared Miyamura’s post, stating that “naive AI governance is a bad idea” and could be exploited in contexts such as allocating charitable funds.
“As an alternative, I support the concept of information financing (https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/11/09/infofinance.html), where an open market exists for anyone to propose models. These models are subject to selective audits, triggered by users and assessed by juries,” Buterin suggested.
The link shared by Buterin shows his advocacy for broader adoption of information financing, similar to mechanisms used by prediction markets like Polymarket and DAO voting.
Still, this approach does not resolve the core vulnerability in ChatGPT that attackers could exploit.
