Highlights

  • USD/SEK is trading below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages, showing persistent seller pressure in the short and medium term.
  • Momentum indicators including MACD show a strong sell signal and weak trend, while oscillators suggest indecision and mild bearish bias.
  • Next five days range forecast is kr9.3834 to kr9.5104, with a 57% probability of a downward move if kr9.4187 breaks.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees bearish pressure building in USD/SEK as short- and medium-term momentum remains negative. He notes the price is stuck below both its 20- and 50-day moving averages, with only the 200-day average offering support. The absence of supportive news leaves sentiment cautious and uncertain. Technical indicators like MACD and RSI point to further downside risk, while mixed oscillators add little reassurance. "The technical setup, combined with seller dominance and no positive news, makes any rally suspect at this stage," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, believes that despite recent selling, the longer-term structure for USD/SEK remains constructive above kr9.3367. He highlights that resilient support near the 200-day average signals underlying strength in the pair. A break above kr9.4616 could ignite positive momentum and open up fresh opportunities for buyers. The volatility band suggests traders can seek setups on both sides as conditions evolve. "Even after a cautious week, upside scenarios remain viable — watch for a bullish breakout above immediate resistance," he advises.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, notes indecision dominates USD/SEK with mixed short-term signals and low confidence. He points out that absence of news flow adds to the cautious mood among traders. The balance of risk is tilted slightly down given session lows and persistent resistance. "Without catalysts and with technicals weak, I see little reason for optimism in the immediate term," Dele remarks.

Mixed bearish signals as price tests moving average boundaries

USD/SEK is trading below its 20-day (kr9.5075) and 50-day (kr9.6066) moving averages, highlighting sustained downside pressure in the short and medium term. The pair holds above its 200-day average (kr9.3367), which serves as key longer-term support, while the Ichimoku Kijun at kr9.5846 acts as resistance. Immediate resistance is located at kr9.4616, with support at kr9.4187. Momentum indicators present a mixed-to-bearish profile: the MACD signals 'Strong Sell,' ADX is neutral, and RSI at 44.62 reflects a mild bearish bias without entering oversold territory. Stochastic RSI and Bull/Bear Power (BBP) point to modest intraday buyer support, as BBP is slightly positive. The CCI and Awesome Oscillator (AO) both reinforce a neutral to bearish undertone. The session opened nearly flat, slipping kr0.0471 or 0.5% to kr9.4469, and remains near session lows. Intraday volatility measures 0.67% and the technical picture overall points to continued pressure and indecision in short-term momentum.

Earlier, analysts noted that USD/SEK was exhibiting a predominantly bearish technical setup, with seller pressure maintaining downside risk. The current analysis reinforces this view, highlighting that traders should monitor the kr9.4187 support as a key level for potential bearish continuation in the coming sessions.
