Highlights

  • USD/SEK trades below key short- and medium-term moving averages, indicating sustained downside momentum on the hourly timeframe.
  • Momentum indicators including RSI, MACD, and oscillators confirm bearish conditions, with seller dominance and oversold signals prevailing.
  • Expected USD/SEK range for the next 2 to 3 days is kr9.8441 to kr9.9431, with a 68% probability of further downside.

Downside momentum builds as resistance holds and sellers dominate

On the hourly chart, USD/SEK has slipped below the MA-20 and MA-50, reflecting short- and medium-term resistance zones, while the price holds above the MA-200 on the daily timeframe. The Ichimoku Kijun provides immediate resistance at kr9.938. The nearest support is at kr9.8441, with session lows clustering around kr9.8936. Momentum indicators show the RSI in sell territory, MACD confirming a sell signal, and ADX signaling a neutral trend. Both Stochastic RSI and CCI are now in oversold territory, with Bull/Bear Power demonstrating continued dominance by sellers. The Awesome Oscillator remains aligned with the current downside movement.

Range-bound consolidation likely as downside risks persist

Over the next two to three sessions, USD/SEK is expected to consolidate within the kr9.8441 to kr9.9431 range, reflecting typical volatility for this cross. Scenario probabilities stand at 68% for further downside and 32% for a potential bounce higher. A move above kr9.9431 would raise the odds of a test of higher resistance, while a drop below kr9.8441 would indicate increased downside risk in the short term.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, analyst at Traders Union, notes that USD/SEK has slipped modestly yet remains above key long-term support. The analyst sees technical momentum tilted to the downside, but expects typical consolidation unless key levels break. Even though there are no fresh news drivers impacting the Swedish krona, the current seller dominance is confirmed by momentum indicators. Karapetjanc maintains a constructive short-term outlook, expecting a move only if kr9.8441 or kr9.9431 give way. "If buyers regain control above kr9.9431, further upside could quickly become the main scenario."

Earlier, analysts noted that USD/SEK faced ongoing selling pressure amid mixed technical signals and heightened regulatory uncertainty regarding Sweden's digital currency initiatives. The current analysis strengthens this cautious view, as prevailing downside momentum and oversold conditions suggest traders should closely monitor the kr9.8441 support for signs of further weakness.
