Highlights

  • EUR/COP trades below short-, medium-, and long-term moving averages, indicating sustained downward pressure in all time frames.
  • Momentum and oscillators such as MACD, ADX, and RSI indicate persistent bearish signals with low buying interest and a leaning toward oversold conditions.
  • Next five days expect EUR/COP between COL$3,514 to COL$3,589, with 71% probability of downside; a breakout requires movement above COL$3,553 resistance.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, points out that EUR/COP's recovery is technically feeble and overshadowed by broad weakness below key moving averages. He highlights that negative momentum persists across short and long timeframes, with the alignment of the 50- and 200-day averages deepening the bearish trend. Kharitonov stresses that oscillator readings lean heavily toward oversold conditions, and the sharp BBP up-move may reflect temporary buying, not lasting strength. The absence of positive news further dims sentiment toward the pair. "Despite minor rebounds, I see EUR/COP at heightened risk of further declines and advocate caution for buyers here," he warns.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, observes that buyers are re-entering EUR/COP as short-term opportunities emerge. He believes the current volatility band between COL$3,514 and COL$3,589 presents active setups for nimble participants. Karapetjanc sees the sideways corridor as a staging ground for a revival, emphasizing that bullish momentum will accelerate on a break above COL$3,553. "With buyers dominating intraday and room for upside, I expect the market to reward those prepared for a reversal," he asserts.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, notes that EUR/COP's technical outlook is clouded by consistent downside signals and feeble sentiment. He finds little support from news or macro drivers, deepening skepticism in the short run. Dele underlines that intraday gains are not backed by sustained interest, warning of potential false signals. "This is not the place for complacency — traders should be wary of chasing short-lived upticks in a weak environment," he cautions.

Bearish momentum persists as price stays under key averages

EUR/COP is currently trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages (COL$3,564, COL$3,626, and COL$3,922 respectively), signaling persistent downward pressure across short-, medium-, and long-term trends. The nearest support and resistance levels are set at COL$3,530 (today’s low) and COL$3,553 (week high), with further confirmation of bearish momentum from the alignment of the 50- and 200-day averages. Momentum indicators paint a weak picture, with Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) both forecasting sell signals. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 41.73 and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at -77.77 also suggest a lack of buying interest, leaning toward oversold territory, while Stochastic RSI is neutral. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) is positive at 3.71, indicating buyers are dominating intraday momentum, but it also signals an overbought condition. The pair opened nearly flat, has risen by COL$16.21 (0.46%), sits mid-range for the session, and intraday volatility stands at 0.95%. Overall, despite small gains and some buyer activity, the momentum and oscillator configuration signals continued downside pressure with a slight divergence emerging due to the BBP's overbought warning.

Previously it was reported that EUR/COP had shifted into a phase of near-term strength following a period of persistent bearish momentum. The latest technical signals, however, indicate renewed downside pressure, making a break below COL$3,530 the key risk level to watch for potential further declines.
