Vantage Group ratings remain unchanged after leadership appointments
Vantage ratings steady

Vantage Group’s credit ratings remain unchanged after the company appoints new senior leadership, with AM Best keeping a positive outlook on the insurer and its affiliates. The review comes after a governance change linked to Howard Hughes Holdings Inc.’s acquisition of Vantage and ahead of a planned CEO transition in June 2027.

Highlights

  • AM Best affirms the credit ratings and positive outlooks of Vantage Risk entities following leadership changes and Howard Hughes Holdings Inc.’s acquisition.
  • Marc Grandisson is appointed executive chairman of Vantage Group Holdings Ltd. effective immediately, while David Gansberg takes over as CEO in June 2027.
  • AM Best will monitor the leadership transition for potential rating action but notes no current changes to Vantage's balance sheet strength or risk profile.

Leadership transition and ratings stance

As reported by AM Best, the credit ratings of Vantage Risk Ltd., Vantage Risk Specialty Insurance Company and Vantage Risk Assurance Company remain unchanged following the announced leadership changes.

Marc Grandisson, the former CEO of Arch Capital Group Ltd., is appointed executive chairman of Vantage Group Holdings Ltd., effective immediately. David Gansberg, former president of Arch Capital Group Ltd., is appointed CEO of Vantage, although his appointment does not take effect until June 2027.

Until then, Grandisson is set to work with Vantage’s founding CEO, Greg Hendrick, during the transition period. AM Best says the appointments add experienced industry leadership to the group.

Implications for credit profile

AM Best says the leadership transition is a notable governance change following Howard Hughes Holdings Inc.’s acquisition of Vantage, but its assessment of the group’s balance sheet strength, operating performance, business profile and enterprise risk management remains unchanged.

The outlooks on the ratings also remain positive. AM Best says it continues to monitor the leadership transition through the rest of Hendrick’s tenure and Gansberg’s move into the role, and it may take rating action if developments affect Vantage’s creditworthiness.

In our earlier article on Andy Burnham’s mayoral leadership in Greater Manchester, we discussed how ambitious policy goals on housing, public health and economic development are being tested by budget constraints and political fragmentation. We also noted that the region’s longer-term outlook depends on whether city-region governance can turn progressive promises into measurable results despite wider economic pressures.
