MEMX outlines MX2 options launch and testing schedule
MEMX unveils MX2 timeline

MEMX is detailing a series of exchange and regulatory updates as it prepares for the rollout of its MX2 options market. The notices include an August 15 user acceptance test, a September 14 launch schedule for selected symbols, and a rule change already effective from July 28, 2026.

Highlights

  • MEMX schedules MX2 User Acceptance Test 1 for August 15 in pre-production, ahead of a September 14 options platform launch including symbols like BAC and NFLX.
  • Regulatory Notice 26-08, effective July 28, 2026, amends Rule 14.1 to remove the mandate for pre-trading information circulars in UTP exchange traded products and updates written description rules.
  • MEMX issues compliance updates alongside MX2 rollout, including Regulation SCI disaster recovery testing and Rule 20.6 procedures for options trade nullification and adjustment.

MX2 rollout timeline and rule updates

As reported by MEMX, MX2 User Acceptance Test 1 in the pre-production environment is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with a separate session also available in the MX2 production environment from 9:30 a.m. ET to 1:00 p.m. ET.

The exchange also says MX2 Options is set to launch on September 14 with an initial list of symbols including BAC, CMG, GLD, HYG, KLAC, LYFT, NFLX, ORCL, VZ and XLF.

Separately, MEMX says Regulatory Notice 26-08 takes effect on July 28, 2026 and amends Rule 14.1. The changes remove the requirement for MEMX to distribute information circulars before trading begins in each UTP exchange traded product, while adding cross-references to Rules 3.7 and 3.21 and revising written description requirements.

Operational and market implications

The alerts indicate MEMX is continuing operational preparations ahead of the MX2 options debut, with testing windows intended to let market participants validate connectivity and workflow before live trading begins. The published launch list suggests the exchange is starting with a targeted group of widely traded equities and exchange traded products.

MEMX also highlights an earlier disaster recovery process tied to Regulation SCI testing, referencing Regulatory Notice 26-01 first published on February 6, 2026. Together, the notices show the exchange is pairing product rollout steps with compliance and resilience measures for members and other market participants.

In a separate regulatory alert, MX2 also outlines procedures under Rule 20.6 for the nullification and adjustment of options transactions, including obvious errors. That notice sets expectations for how the exchange handles trade corrections as the new options venue moves toward launch.

The Treasury Department’s final rule under the Corporate Transparency Act permanently ended beneficial ownership reporting for U.S. companies and individuals, making the earlier March 2025 enforcement pause permanent and deleting previously submitted domestic data. Our earlier coverage also noted that while the rollback reduces compliance burdens for many U.S. small businesses, it sparked concerns that reduced transparency could weaken anti-money laundering efforts, even as foreign entities still face reporting requirements.
