MX2 onboarding expands OCC-MEMX relationship
As reported by OCC, the clearinghouse will provide central counterparty clearing and settlement services for MX2 Options, a new options exchange from MEMX Group. The addition extends OCC's existing clearing relationship with MEMX to a second exchange within the MEMX family.OCC says MX2 is built on MEMX's existing technology and connectivity infrastructure, allowing the exchange to come online through a streamlined onboarding process. Andrej Bolkovic, chief executive officer of OCC, says the expansion fits the type of growth the organization is designed to support and continues the clearing and risk management standards participants use across its markets.
Geralyn Endo, head of options at MEMX Group, says the MX2 launch expands the company's options business and supports its push to increase competition with more flexible products for market participants. She also says OCC's support and operational expertise help bring the new exchange to market.
Broader market access for U.S. listed derivatives
For clearing members, the addition of MX2 increases the number of accessible markets cleared through a single central counterparty. That structure gives participants a broader and more diversified set of trading venues under OCC's clearing framework. The expansion also reinforces OCC's position in U.S. listed derivatives clearing as exchanges add new venues while relying on established post-trade infrastructure. In operational terms, the MX2 launch highlights OCC's effort to scale its clearing platform as existing exchange groups expand their market footprint.
NSE warnings about guaranteed return schemes highlighted rising risks for investors, after the exchange flagged an individual allegedly offering stock-market tips and “assured” profits via a mobile number. Our earlier article noted that such promoters are not registered exchange members or authorized persons, and that investors who participate in prohibited schemes may have limited or no access to investor protection, dispute resolution, or grievance redressal mechanisms.
