Securitize gains after Cantor Fitzgerald starts coverage, sees tokenization upside
Securitize stock surges

Investor interest in tokenized financial assets is lifting attention on newly listed platform Securitize as Wall Street weighs the scale of blockchain-based market infrastructure. The stock rises after Cantor Fitzgerald begins coverage with an overweight rating and a 12-month price target of $21.20, implying about 95% upside from Friday's close.

Highlights

  • Cantor Fitzgerald initiates Securitize with an overweight rating, driving a 9.4% gain as tokenization advances reshape financial infrastructure.
  • Securitize, now listed on the New York Stock Exchange with $5 billion in assets across 23 blockchains, benefits from rising investor focus on blockchain-based finance.
  • Securitize shares surge 14% after the SEC's temporary rule allowing limited U.S. tokenized stock trading, supporting broader tokenized securities adoption.

Coverage launch highlights tokenization growth case

CNBC reports that Cantor Fitzgerald begins coverage of Securitize with an overweight rating, helping drive the stock up 9.4% on Monday. The investment firm says the company is positioned early in what it describes as a broad transformation of financial infrastructure through tokenization.

Securitize supports the tokenization of traditional assets such as stocks and funds, and the company says it has about $5 billion in assets across 23 public blockchains. It made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange on Jul. 2, adding public market visibility as investor focus on blockchain-based finance expands.

Cantor estimates that $39 billion, or 0.01% of the world's $319 trillion in traditional financial assets, currently exists on-chain. Analyst Gareth Gacetta says that leaves substantial room for expansion, arguing that Securitize covers most of the tokenization lifecycle through issuance, registration, custody, distribution and trading under one roof.

Regulatory shift adds momentum for the sector

The bullish call comes as the Securities and Exchange Commission announces a temporary rule on Thursday allowing limited trading of U.S. tokenized stocks. That long-awaited regulatory move boosts Securitize shares by 14% and adds support to expectations for broader adoption of tokenized securities.

Cantor says Securitize stands apart from competitors because it offers a regulated tokenization stack spanning issuance, registration, custody, distribution and trading within a single regulatory framework. Even with the stock down 3.5% year to date, the firm says the longer-term opportunity remains significant if more traditional assets move on-chain.

Our earlier report on AI- and bond-market risks noted that rising U.S. borrowing costs and growing concern over AI-related threats were reshaping investor sentiment, especially around U.S. technology stocks. It highlighted how a jump in the 10-year Treasury yield to multi-year highs was intensifying debate over whether stress in debt markets could puncture recent market enthusiasm. The piece also pointed to shifting yield-curve dynamics across major economies as debt-servicing costs climb.
