Leadership plan for merger closing
As first reported by Business Insider, Ellison told employees in a memo that Kreiz will serve as co-CEO of the combined company effective at closing. Ellison says he had always planned to partner with an executive of Kreiz's caliber once the Warner Bros. Discovery transaction is finalized.Under the leadership split outlined by Paramount, Ellison is set to lead creative and technology strategy, while Kreiz oversees daily operations and the integration of the two businesses. In the memo, Ellison says their skills and experience complement each other and that they share a vision for building a next-generation media company.
Ellison also tells staff that nothing changes until the deal closes, even as the company prepares for the next phase. He says he wanted employees to hear the appointment from him first before the transaction is completed.
Kreiz brings operating and media experience
Kreiz most recently serves as chairman and CEO of Mattel, where Ellison says he led a major transformation and executed a multi-platform, brand-centric strategy. The memo also highlights his earlier roles as chairman and CEO of Maker Studios and Endemol Group, giving him experience across family entertainment, digital video and television production. The appointment suggests Paramount Skydance is pairing Ellison's creative and technology focus with an executive positioned to handle operational execution during a complex merger. For the media sector, the move signals an effort to establish management clarity before one of the industry's largest pending combinations is completed.
