S&P 500 earnings per share set to surge

Brian Sozzi, reporter and analyst at Yahoo Finance, shares that the S&P 500 is on track for 26% earnings per share growth year over year during a strong earnings season.

This figure drops to 18% when excluding large one-time gains recognized by Amazon, Google, and Meta. The growth rate significantly exceeds consensus forecasts made on April 1, which anticipated just 12%.

Sozzi has previously addressed deal speculation involving major retail platforms. He questioned the rationale for EBay considering a buyout by GameStop in light of EBay’s renewed growth and collectibles strategy. In a separate report, he covered Deutsche Bank’s concerns about potential cost synergies and integration risks in a possible GameStop and EBay merger.
