UK 30-year yields hit 1998 highs

Lisa Abramowicz, journalist, co-host on Bloomberg TV/Radio, highlights a significant shift in the UK’s economic outlook as 30-year yields have surged to their highest levels since 1998 and the pound continues to weaken.

Abramowicz suggests that, regardless of who is in power, there is no credible plan evident to restore market confidence.

Abramowicz has recently tracked major shifts in global bond markets. Earlier this year, she reported that Japanese 10-year government bond yields reached a post-1997 high of 2.52 percent as longer-term rates climbed globally. She has also highlighted Deutsche Bank research pointing to earnings growth across all major sectors for the first time in four years based on year-over-year comparisons.
