Alex Bosworth, head of infrastructure at Lightning Labs, addresses common challenges faced by operators of Lightning Network routing nodes.
He explains that low or inconsistent network traffic is often due to incorrect fee settings and suggests that node operators can remedy this issue by using fee automation or careful management. Bosworth adds that even with proper fee management, node traffic may slow if inbound liquidity dwindles, requiring periodic replenishment.
Bosworth has previously discussed operational issues in the Bitcoin ecosystem. He said decentralized Bitcoin wallets pose greater privacy and cost challenges than custodial wallets. In another commentary, he analyzed how the elimination of physical cash could alter public perceptions of money.
