Sonali Basak: AI likened to Manhattan Project in U.S. wealth management
AI viewed as new Manhattan Project

Sonali Basak reports that Rob Sechan of New Edge, one of the fastest growing wealth managers in the country, considers artificial intelligence to be a transformative force comparable to the Manhattan Project.

Sechan believes that AI's significance in financial portfolios is so substantial that clients may find it difficult to diversify away from technology exposure.

Basak has previously noted that equities often deliver strong nominal returns during periods of moderate inflation, despite heightened global tensions, as seen in her recent analysis. She has also reported that hyperscaler spreads over Treasuries and other investment grade companies have widened, with costs up 25% from early 2025, according to PIMCO. These developments highlight changing cost structures across asset classes.
