Mark Roussin: Microsoft unveils new quantum chip targeting commercial use by 2029
Microsoft launches Majorana 2 quantum chip

Mark Roussin, founder and senior portfolio manager at Roussin Capital Management, reports that Microsoft has introduced Majorana 2, a quantum chip claimed to have qubits 1,000 times more reliable than the previous generation.

According to Roussin, the company's target to achieve a commercially useful quantum computer is set for 2029, which is half of its original timeline. Microsoft is also leveraging agentic AI in the design of its quantum chips and holds a $3 trillion valuation.

Roussin has recently covered other key developments in corporate earnings and M&A. He highlighted that ZS posted $1.08 EPS and $850 million in revenue but fell short on Q2 revenue guidance in recent earnings. In another report, Roussin noted the planned $6.8 billion acquisition of Taylor Morrison by Berkshire Hathaway.
