Aaron Levie: Corporate AI token spending surpasses historical software budgets
Aaron Levie, co-founder & CEO at Box, observes that spending on AI tokens by companies is dramatically exceeding any previous enterprise software budgets.
Historically, firms might spend $10–50 per month per employee on software licenses, but Levie notes that current AI token expenditures now reach hundreds or even thousands of dollars per person to support AI-driven workflows.
Levie has commented previously on how executives are responding to the growth of AI in the workplace. He pointed out that the CEO of Goldman Sachs recently challenged negative expectations for AI’s impact on jobs. In his remarks, Levie cited past productivity trends to frame the ongoing discussion about AI spending.
