Cryptography bans pose a risk to BTC, Alex Bosworth argues
Cryptography bans could impact BTC security

Alex Bosworth, head of infrastructure at Lightning Labs, discusses the potential threat to BTC from cryptography bans and challenges to freedom of speech.

Bosworth notes that while freedom of speech is protected in theory, historical realities show it may not always stand against power dynamics. He suggests defense against such bans relies on making enforcement more costly and boosting economic power.

Bosworth has previously argued that maintaining BTC price floors supports its endurance, describing the asset’s foundation as ideological in nature in a recent article. He has also forecast that shared UTXOs could drive the Bitcoin Lightning Network’s volume toward $1 trillion within the next decade, according to a separate statement. Both views form part of his ongoing focus on Bitcoin’s long-term economic prospects.
