Esther George signals possible earlier rate hike, David Rosenberg notes
George open to early rate hikes

David Rosenberg, founder & president at Rosenberg Research & Associates Inc., reacted with surprise to comments from former Kansas City Federal Reserve President Esther George. According to Rosenberg, George suggested in an interview that she would not wait until September to begin hiking rates again. Rosenberg also referenced Kevin Warsh being at the helm and his known approach to monetary policy.

Rosenberg has previously questioned the Federal Reserve's approach to interest rate hikes in light of a modest 0.3% increase in nonfarm payrolls and a 0.3% decline in the household survey, as detailed in his recent commentary. He has also discussed the central bank's policy direction under new leadership and its impact on market valuations in a separate analysis. These views form the backdrop to his latest reaction to comments from former Fed officials.
