Simon Dixon, chief executive officer at BankToTheFuture, compares two major gatherings in Bitcoin history. Dixon highlights how in 2017, Barry Silbert and Digital Currency Group brought together leading Bitcoin companies for the New York Agreement. He notes that in 2026, Michael Saylor and Strategy have assembled many of the largest financial institutions alongside Bitcoin companies as part of an initiative in Bitcoin Security.
Dixon has previously differentiated digital credit as being best suited for Wall Street, while identifying Bitcoin's role in self-custody and as a tool for opting out of traditional finance structures in a 2023 interview. In an earlier statement, he noted that most cryptocurrencies, including Tether, have elements of centralized control or can be frozen, which raises concerns among some market participants, according to a separate commentary. These perspectives align with Dixon's ongoing focus on Bitcoin security and governance.
