State regulators approve most insurer requests on AI risk exclusion, Chamath Palihapitiya notes
Insurers win most AI risk exclusions

Chamath Palihapitiya, founder and CEO of Social Capital, highlights that the insurance industry has taken steps to address risks associated with artificial intelligence.

According to Palihapitiya, insurance carriers approached state regulators this year to request exclusions for AI-related damages from ordinary general liability policies. Regulators approved more than 80% of these requests, impacting the standard forms used by about 82% of carriers.

Palihapitiya has previously commented on how technology experts are influencing market outcomes, suggesting non-technology participants are at a disadvantage in current conditions, as noted in a recent analysis. He also questioned the lack of buyers for SALP's Anthropic stake and addressed uncertainties around Anthropic's valuation in another report. These observations add further context to his perspectives on industry adaptations to technology-related risks.
