Diesel up 57 percent in six months, Andrew Lokenauth notes
Diesel prices hit record high

Andrew Lokenauth highlights the rapid increase in diesel prices, noting that diesel stood at $3.76 the day before the war began and has now reached $5.90, a record high. San Francisco is paying $8.23 per gallon.

According to Lokenauth, fuel comprises 15% to 30% of the cost of food, and diesel prices have risen 57% over six months. He adds that the last time diesel reached a record high in June 2022, inflation hit 9.1%.

Lokenauth has previously discussed financial concepts to increase public understanding. In an earlier article, he used a dating scenario to explain why the Federal Reserve buys Treasury bills. His commentary often focuses on making complex economic topics accessible to a wide audience.
