Bill Gates could have reached $1 trillion

Andrew Lokenauth points out that if Bill Gates had held onto his Microsoft shares without selling or donating them, his net worth would exceed $1 trillion, making him the world’s first trillionaire.

Instead, Lokenauth highlights that Gates was persuaded by Warren Buffett to focus on philanthropy, leading Gates to pledge most of his wealth to charitable causes.

Lokenauth has previously analyzed tech sector valuations, noting that both OpenAI and Tesla reached a $1.4 trillion valuation despite wide disparities in revenue, with Tesla at $104 billion and OpenAI at $70 billion here. In another report, he compared Anthropic's $965 billion valuation on $65 billion in revenue with Walmart's $870 billion valuation and $713 billion in revenue here.
