EU aims to shield single market from Chinese competition, Daniel Kral notes
EU protection measures may impact exporters

The European Union is taking steps to protect its single market from what it considers unfair competition from China, a move that could lead to increased pressure on EU exporters as China redirects its exports to other markets.

Daniel Kral argued that these actions signal a future for the EU characterized by less openness and a greater emphasis on growth driven by domestic demand.

Kral previously reported that EU imports of Chinese hybrid vehicles have risen sharply, reaching as many as 100,000 units per month as the bloc considers its response to the influx of Chinese goods. In a separate analysis, he noted that Russia has begun seizing €150 billion in EU company assets while the EU prepares to confiscate €250 billion in Russian cash investments.
