CPI shows rising gas and energy concerns

Gas and energy prices are driving inflation, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. John Gramlich reports that 74% of U.S. adults now say they are very concerned about the price of gas and energy, up from 43% in January before the Iran war.

John Gramlich has previously reported on monthly trading volumes at Kalshi and Polymarket. Trading on the two platforms rose from $26 billion in May 2026 to $53 billion by July 2026, according to his July article. The data suggest a period of increased activity in prediction markets during the same year.
