Tim Draper disclosed that he bought roughly 30,000 BTC at the U.S. Marshals auction in 2014, bidding $632 per Bitcoin when the market price was $618.

Draper, who is the founding partner of Draper Associates, said that the potential for a different financial system was a key factor in his decision. He commented that if Bitcoin were to transform the world economy, the price difference at which he purchased the asset would be insignificant.

Draper Associates, Draper's venture capital firm, recently led the Series A round for Mogul Club after an update from Alex Blackwood in May highlighted the team's vision, according to a previous statement. In a separate development, Draper Associates was named to Inc's 2026 Founder-Friendly Investors list, a recognition Draper attributed to the entrepreneurs he supports, as detailed in a recent report. Draper continues to be active in early-stage technology investment.
