Unilever shares jump over 6% after strong H1 results
Strong half-year results revived investor interest in Unilever shares and triggered a sizeable gap higher. The next test is whether the rally can hold as the price approaches the psychological GBX 5,000 level.
Unilever reported strong results for the first half of the year. Underlying sales growth reached 5.8% in the second quarter and 4.8% over the six-month period. Volume growth was the main driver, contributing 4.2%, while pricing added just 0.6%. This points to stronger underlying consumer demand.
Operating profit rose 2.6% to €4.9 billion. Unilever expects underlying sales growth of 4–5% in the second half and 4–6% for the full 2026 financial year. Strong volume growth and confident guidance were the main reasons behind the positive market reaction.
Bulls eye GBX 5,000 after the post-earnings gap
The bullish scenario outlined in the previous analysis played out in full. Following the results, the shares gapped higher and broke above resistance at GBX 4,750, which also coincided with the 200-day SMA.GBX 4,950 is the key resistance level for today. A decisive breakout and daily close above this level would open the way towards the psychological GBX 5,000 mark.
The medium-term target for ULVR shares stands at GBX 5,135.
However, the RSI (14) is already in overbought territory, increasing the risk of profit-taking near GBX 5,000.
Earnings momentum strengthens the recovery outlook
The results provided Unilever shares with a fresh fundamental catalyst, as sales growth was driven primarily by higher volumes rather than price increases.This momentum has accelerated the share-price recovery and increased the probability of a test of the psychological GBX 5,000 level.
