Intel stock forecast: Can INTC hold $100 after rejection at $106?
Intel stock failed to break through strong resistance near $106. With the broader market backdrop deteriorating, the risk of a correction is increasing on September 9, bringing $98.50 back into focus as the main short-term target.
The main driver behind Intel’s September 8 rally was fresh speculation around the company’s pricing strategy. MarketWatch reported that Intel could raise prices for PC processors by around 10% in October. The company itself has not publicly confirmed those plans.
Pressure on the broader U.S. stock market is also increasing as oil prices rise and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East intensify. Brent has climbed above $100 per barrel, adding to concerns about renewed inflationary pressure and a potentially more restrictive interest-rate outlook.

$100–98.50 becomes the key support zone
INTC did not follow the base-case scenario outlined earlier. In premarket trading on September 8, the stock broke above $98.50 resistance and moved above the 50-day SMA before accelerating to $106.09.
The $106–106.50 area, however, proved to be strong resistance. Buyers failed to establish the price above this zone, and Intel pulled back to $104.47 by the close.
The $100–98.50 range now becomes the key support zone, with the 50-day SMA and horizontal support located in this area. Given the worsening macroeconomic and geopolitical backdrop, a decline toward $98.50 is the base case for now.
A sustained move above $106.50 would invalidate this scenario.
Oil price and inflation risks weigh on sentiment
Upcoming U.S. inflation data add another source of risk. August PPI is due on September 10, followed by CPI on September 11.
For Intel, this increases the possibility of profit-taking after the stock gained more than 20% since the beginning of September. As long as the price remains below $106.50, the risk of a pullback toward the $100–98.50 zone remains elevated.
