Institutional buying persists as semiconductor sector growth attracts inflows

Nykredit A S has acquired a new stake in Synopsys, purchasing 51,916 shares valued at approximately $23.16 million according to recent regulatory filings. The company's fiscal year 2025 revenue reached $7.05 billion, bringing its market capitalization to around $95.60 billion. These developments reflect continued interest from institutional investors amid Synopsys' ongoing growth in the semiconductor sector.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees Synopsys showing technical weakness despite the recent 4.19% rebound. He notes that the stock remains capped under all key moving averages and momentum indicators flash persistent bearish signals. Kharitonov highlights that selling pressure still dominates, with only temporary relief from the Nykredit A S stake. Bearish signals in MACD, ADX, and BBP concern him. "This bounce looks fragile — unless Synopsys reclaims the $402.16 level decisively, sellers remain in control and downside risks persist," he states.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees opportunity in the strong institutional interest, with Nykredit A S entering at scale. He points to Synopsys' impressive fiscal 2025 revenue and major market capitalization as reinforcing broader fundamental strength in the sector. Karapetjanc is confident that market appetite for quality semiconductor exposure will support further recovery. He expects the bullish structure to assert itself once technical resistance clears. "With continued institutional demand, I see Synopsys regaining traction and presenting fresh setups above the $402.16 level," he says.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, notes that recent institutional buying has not shifted the underlying sentiment. He stresses the high probability of a further downward move given global risk-off trends. Dele questions the sustainability of current price strength. "Institutional inflows are positive news, but for now, broader market caution outweighs these gains — I remain defensive on Synopsys," he comments.

Bearish momentum endures as technical barriers and weak indicators converge

Synopsys is trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages ($403.69, $402.16, and $446.49 respectively), indicating pressure from sellers across the short, medium, and long term. With the near-term ceiling at $402.16 and the floor seen at $389.19, the setup favors continued bearishness, with longer-term trend confirmation underscored by the bearish alignment between the 50-day and 200-day averages. Momentum readings remain weak: MACD signals further downside with a “Sell” forecast, while the Average Directional Index (ADX) at 13.15 points to a neutral trend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 43.16, Stochastic RSI at 34.44, and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) at -72.68 all signal either neutral or oversold conditions, suggesting limited buying appetite. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) at -5.54 highlights continued seller domination and is flagged as oversold, and the Awesome Oscillator (AO) also supports the downside trend. The stock has bounced $16.13 or 4.19% higher to $401.02 after opening with a downside gap of about $3.20 (-0.83%), now positioned near today’s high. Intraday volatility stands at 1.26%. Strength toward session highs contrasts with the persistent negative momentum signals, indicating divergence between price action and momentum.

Earlier, analysts noted that Synopsys was exhibiting persistent technical weakness and a prevailing downside bias despite isolated buying interest. The latest developments, including Nykredit A S's new stake and continued technical pressures, reinforce this broader trend, with the key factor now being whether Synopsys can break above resistance at $402.16 or faces further declines below $389.19.
