Apple faces key resistance after iPhone Duo debut
Apple tests resistance after foldable debut

AAPL is trading around $345 on October 26, showing a moderate correction after reaching a new all-time high of $351.73 late last week. On the hourly chart, Apple shares maintain a bullish structure despite failing to consolidate above $348–350.

Strong initial demand tests production capacity

The main corporate event was the launch of global sales of the first foldable iPhone Duo on October 23, priced from $1,999. The launch attracted strong buyer interest in Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore, London, and other major cities, although the queues were smaller than during some previous iPhone launches.

At the same time, initial batches of devices sold out almost immediately, while delivery times for certain configurations were pushed back to late January 2027. Apple had warned in advance about limited smartphone availability in retail stores, so a significant portion of devices was allocated through preorders.

According to industry sources, the company has already asked suppliers to increase production orders for the iPhone Duo by approximately 30%. However, such long waiting times currently reflect not only strong demand but also limited production capacity, so it is premature to draw final conclusions about the commercial success of the new device.

Early reviews reveal strengths and concerns

Initial reviews of the iPhone Duo have been mixed. Positive assessments were given to its slim body, the almost invisible crease on the internal 7.6-inch display, the quality of the hinge mechanism, and the adaptation of iOS 27 for working with multiple applications.

At the same time, reviewers point to the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens, the use of Touch ID instead of Face ID, and insufficient adaptation of some third-party applications to the foldable screen. Initial user reports of damage to the internal display around the fold have also attracted attention, although the scale of the problem remains unknown.

For Apple, the quality of the initial batches is particularly important, as the device's high price implies greater customer expectations regarding reliability. According to IDC estimates, the company could capture approximately 44% of the global foldable smartphone market by value as early as 2026, although the realization of this forecast will depend on the pace of production expansion and the ability to maintain strong demand after the initial excitement.

AAPL bulls face decisive test at $348

As I warned, profit-taking on long positions followed the launch of iPhone Duo sales, but so far, the decline in AAPL has been limited to the $342 level, where buyers stepped in, and the share price is once again approaching strong resistance around $348.

Thus, the outlook for AAPL remains constructive, but, as noted in Apple approaches key breakout as shares resist market pressure, bulls still need a decisive break above resistance. Otherwise, more extensive profit-taking and a decline toward $335–330 are possible.
