Real Estate Investment and Entrepreneurship by David Adelman
David J. Adelman is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist who serves as CEO of Campus Apartments, one of the largest student housing developers in the United States. Under his leadership, the company manages over $2 billion in assets across 80 universities in 23 states. Adelman is also co-founder of FS Investments, an alternative asset manager overseeing more than $35 billion in assets across mutual funds and private market vehicles.
Adelman holds several board roles, including with Wheels Up and BuildSubmarines.com, and was appointed in 2022 as the chair of the Philadelphia 76ers Innovation Lab. He has been active in venture funding, especially in fintech and financial platforms, but does not have verified public holdings in blockchain or cryptocurrency ventures. He has appeared in institutional panels discussing crypto market structure, particularly in relation to Morgan Stanley’s crypto research initiatives.
With personal philanthropic commitments exceeding $10 million and involvement in early-stage investing through Darco Capital, Adelman continues to support tech-forward portfolios, although his engagement in crypto markets remains indirect. He frequently speaks on real estate innovation and capital strategies but has not launched or funded a blockchain-specific initiative as of mid-2025.
