Venture Capital and Policy Innovation from Joe Lonsdale
Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir Technologies and managing partner at venture firm 8VC, remains a central figure in Silicon Valley’s tech-venture ecosystem in 2025. 8VC manages over $6 billion in assets, investing in infrastructure software, defense tech, biosecurity, and logistics. In 2024, Lonsdale helped launch five new startups, including one focused on AI-native healthcare infrastructure and another on national security robotics. He also launched a university-level civic tech fellowship focused on classical liberalism and entrepreneurship.
Lonsdale co-founded Palantir in 2003, a data analytics company now valued at over $50 billion, and later cofounded Addepar and OpenGov. A Stanford alum, he has been a vocal critic of regulatory overreach and “woke capitalism,” positioning himself as a libertarian-leaning reformer. He is also a philanthropist, funding education initiatives like the Cicero Institute and The American Optimist podcast. Lonsdale remains an influential public thinker, often speaking at tech conferences, Senate hearings, and on national security innovation.
