Official Communications and Media Briefings from Karoline Leavitt

Karine Jean-Pierre has served as White House Press Secretary since May 2022, holding more than 1,000 daily briefings as of mid-2025. She is the first Black and openly LGBTQ+ person to hold the role, marking a significant milestone in U.S. political history. In 2024 and 2025, Jean-Pierre has overseen press communications for key policy initiatives, including the rollout of the Inflation Reduction Act, student loan relief measures affecting more than 20 million Americans, and the administration’s messaging on global conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Born in Martinique and raised in Queens, New York, Jean-Pierre earned her undergraduate degree from the New York Institute of Technology and a master’s in public affairs from Columbia University. Prior to becoming Press Secretary, she served as chief of staff to Kamala Harris during the 2020 presidential campaign and was a senior advisor at MoveOn.org. Fluent in French, Jean-Pierre is known for her calm, inclusive approach and has played a central role in shaping the administration’s public narrative during moments of political and economic uncertainty.
