Integration via Onramper
Payward Ramp is Kraken ready-to-deploy on-ramp and off-ramp solution, enabling users to convert fiat funds into digital assets and back. Through the integration with Onramper, developers can implement deposit and withdrawal functionality without building their own payment infrastructure, managing compliance systems, or contracting with multiple providers.
Onramper acts as an aggregator that connects various fiat-to-crypto gateways. The partnership with Kraken marks the first major distribution agreement for Payward Ramp, giving any wallet or Web3 service connected to the Onramper network immediate access to Kraken fiat-crypto rails.
According to Kraken, Payward Ramp supports more than 24 payment methods, including ACH, SEPA, PIX, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. The solution covers over 600 digital assets across more than 100 blockchains and operates in more than 30 markets.
Context and Kraken positioning
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the largest global cryptocurrency platforms. The company provides digital asset trading, custodial services, and infrastructure solutions, operating within regulated frameworks in multiple jurisdictions. More than a decade of experience running licensed crypto exchange infrastructure has enabled Kraken to build significant liquidity and technological capabilities.
The company states that the integration via Onramper simplifies access to regulated infrastructure for developers while allowing them to maintain full control over the user interface and reduce operational complexity.
Infrastructure race in Web3 payments
The integration highlights intensifying competition in the fiat-to-crypto gateway segment, a critical layer of Web3 infrastructure. Support for more than 24 payment methods, 600 assets, and 100 blockchains positions Payward Ramp as a scalable solution for global applications.
For Kraken, the partnership expands distribution channels and strengthens its presence across more than 30 markets. For developers, it provides a way to quickly integrate on-ramp and off-ramp functionality without building proprietary payments and compliance infrastructure. As regulatory scrutiny increases, access to licensed infrastructure is becoming a competitive advantage.
