Deribit has launched its new matching engine, known internally as Starbase, which is now operating as part of the integrated Deribit–Coinbase International Exchange. According to the official announcement and supporting details, Starbase represents a complete overhaul of Deribit’s market infrastructure, delivering processing capabilities of over 100,000 orders per second with sub-millisecond latencies and architectural improvements aimed at achieving lower latency, higher throughput, and enhanced fairness through measures such as strict FIFO prioritization and equalized physical access for co-located traders. The upgrade maintains backwards compatibility with existing APIs and introduces new high-performance binary APIs, with a staged rollout beginning in April for test markets, partial direct access in June, and a planned full migration by August. The transition is positioned as essential to supporting deeper liquidity and forming the technical foundation for the unified derivatives platform now operated with Coinbase.

Deribit is a cryptocurrency exchange established in 2016, focusing on futures and options trading for assets such as BTC, ETH, USDC, SOL, XRP, LUNA, and AVAX. The platform supports leveraged trading up to 50x, offers several order types (including stop loss and take profit), and provides access through the TradingView browser terminal and a mobile app. For more details about features, commissions, and security, see the broker profile on Traders Union.
