Highlights

  • Corn futures are under short- and medium-term selling pressure, trading below key moving averages but above the long-term trend indicator.
  • Momentum signals align bearishly on intraday timeframes, with MACD strong sell and RSI showing continued selling pressure.
  • Price is projected to consolidate between USX523.3 and USX531.7 in the next two days, with a high probability of further downside if support breaks.

Bearish momentum dominates as resistance firms and indicators stay negative

The technical picture shows ZC trading below the MA-20 (USX529.39) and MA-50 (USX534.26) on the hourly chart, while maintaining position above the long-term MA-200 at USX463.24. The Ichimoku Kijun at USX530 acts as near-term resistance. Momentum indicators are broadly negative: MACD signals a strong sell, RSI stands at 40.64, and ADX is neutral with no clear trend strength. Both CCI and Stoch RSI are neutral and not at extreme levels, while Bull/Bear Power classifies the market as oversold, reflecting pronounced intraday selling pressure without notable divergence across oscillators.

Sideways bias holds as upside risk fades below resistance

For the next 1–2 days, USX523.3 and USX531.7 set the typical volatility band relative to current price levels. Probability of an upside breakout is very low, with strong potential for continued selling unless ZC decisively reclaims the USX530 Kijun resistance. A drop through USX523.3 would bring further downside risk, while baseline expectations call for a period of sideways consolidation within the established range.

Anton Kharitonov, analyst at Traders Union, sees Corn Futures (ZC) as technically weak, with price stuck below critical moving averages and no positive momentum. He notes the lack of news leaves the market driven purely by chart dynamics. Near-term resistance at USX530 is key, and failing to reclaim it risks further downside. "Until we see a strong move above the USX530 Kijun level, I remain defensively positioned and do not trust any upside attempts here."

Earlier, analysts noted that Corn Futures faced persistent downside pressure following profit-taking and a lack of strong bullish momentum. The latest technical setup reinforces a cautious outlook, with attention now focused on whether prices hold above USX523.3 to avoid a further selloff.
