Position in digital gold market
Tether Gold says the quarter-end reserve total makes XAU₮ the largest digital gold product by market capitalization and usage. At quarter end, the fair market value of gold held by the custodian for tokens sold stands at U.S.$2,948,949,277, while gold backing tokens available for sale is valued at U.S.$490,965,052.Paolo Ardoino, chief executive of Tether, says demand reflects long-term conviction in gold rather than short-term price swings. He adds that each token is linked to specific bars that can be verified, while the company points to Swiss vaulting, issuance under El Salvador's Digital Asset Issuance Law and quarterly third-party testing of sampled bars as key parts of its operating model.
The figures also highlight broader activity in tokenized real-world assets, where issuers are trying to combine direct commodity exposure with blockchain-based transferability and transparency. For investors, XAU₮ is positioned as a way to hold physical gold ownership with added liquidity and portability compared with traditional formats.
Our earlier article on Q3 2026 cybersecurity funding showed that total investment rose mainly because late-stage mega-rounds got larger, even as the number of deals declined. We also noted that AI-oriented and identity security companies attracted the bulk of capital, alongside active consolidation via big-ticket acquisitions—signaling a market where demand is concentrating in fewer, higher-conviction bets.
