Ouster, Inc. has announced that its Rev8 technology removes the need for a separate compute box in collision-avoidance systems.
With its new 3D Zone Monitor, the company enables users to define up to 128 custom 3D zones of any shape, monitor 16 zones simultaneously, and trigger alerts—all processed directly on the lidar sensor itself. This advancement streamlines system architecture for industrial and autonomous applications, potentially reducing hardware complexity and cost.

Earlier this year, Ouster launched the Rev8 OS1 Max lidar with 256 vertical channels and a 500-meter range to support high-speed autonomous systems. The company also introduced technology for advance detection and enhanced object classification of vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. These developments reflect Ouster’s continued focus on expanding lidar capabilities for industrial and autonomous applications.
