Wave Life Sciences has initiated a Phase 2a trial combining its WVE-007 treatment with tirzepatide to target obesity in adults. The stock is up 2.5% on the day at $4.35.
The company announced on September 23, 2026, that it started a Phase 2a combination trial of WVE-007, a GalNAc-siRNA targeting INHBE, together with tirzepatide to address obesity. WVE-007 is reported to induce fat loss without muscle loss, with supporting clinical data suggesting one to two doses per year are sufficient. The placebo-controlled study will test 240 mg and 400 mg doses of WVE-007 plus tirzepatide in adults affected by obesity and type 2 diabetes, according to Stock Titan.

The session opened with a gap up from the previous close at $4.24 to $4.28. Shares of Wave Life Sciences remain under pressure in the broader picture, as the price continues to trade below the MA-20, MA-50, and MA-200, keeping the daily structure bearish. The nearest support is the weekly low at $4.21. RSI at 32.1 is nearing oversold territory, which is an early sign that the decline may be getting stretched.
To determine whether the move gains traction or loses steam, traders should watch for a close above $4.65 or a drop below $4.21. The price opened higher at $4.28 after closing the previous session at $4.24. Even with a sustained move higher and a firm trend over the past week, downside risk dominates with a 78% probability over the coming trading week, while the probability of upside is 22%, with an expected range of $4.15 to $4.54. A close above $4.65 would confirm buyers are willing to follow through, while a drop below $4.21 would indicate the move is being faded. On the weekly chart, the longer-term picture stays negative.
Earlier, analysts noted that Wave Life Sciences was experiencing persistent bearish pressure and consolidation near its yearly lows. This new phase 2a trial announcement adds a potential catalyst, but until price action firmly reclaims key resistance levels, traders should remain alert to continued downside risk in the near term.
