Product rollout and pricing strategy
As reported by CNBC, Amazon on Thursday unveiled the $75 Bee Frontier and the $100 Bee Eclipse as the latest additions to its Bee device range. The Bee Frontier is an upgraded version of Amazon's existing wearable bracelet and can be worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing. It offers up to seven days of battery life, matching earlier versions, but carries a higher price than its $50 predecessor.
Amazon said in a blog post that the Bee Frontier's dual microphones include improved noise filtering, allowing the device to focus on relevant audio in settings such as crowded restaurants or open offices. The company also said the Bee Frontier is available on Thursday, while the Bee Eclipse, a credit card-sized recorder that magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone, will be available soon.
Amazon acquired Bee, a San Francisco startup known for its always-listening bracelet, in July 2025 for an undisclosed amount. Bee devices use artificial intelligence and microphones to record, transcribe and analyze conversations.
Competition, privacy and subscription revenue
Amazon is refreshing the Bee lineup as the consumer technology sector prepares for the holiday season with a wave of new AI hardware. The devices enter a market that already includes AI wearables from Meta, Plaud and Friend, while Amazon has also shifted its own hardware strategy toward AI-enabled products such as Alexa Tablets. The new Bee products expand on a listening model that differs from Amazon's traditional Echo speakers, which activate after a wake word. When switched on, Bee devices continuously record so they can generate conversation summaries, surface recent memories and identify recurring themes that may support personalized goals or actions.
Amazon is also pairing the hardware with a Bee Pro subscription priced at $12 per month. The service includes unlimited conversation summaries, daily memories and integrations with Amazon's webstore, its Alexa+ AI assistant and third-party apps.
Privacy remains a central issue for the category, as AI wearables from rivals such as Meta have already drawn concern from users, advocacy groups and lawmakers. Amazon said Bee devices are built so that no one, including the company, can access user data, that transcripts and summaries can be deleted at any time, that no audio is stored, and that an LED light indicates when recording is taking place.
