Viasat launches Maxwell demo with NASA

Viasat has announced that its Government team will take part in NASA's Communications Services Project with the launch of the Maxwell demo spacecraft. The mission is scheduled for October 19 aboard Bandwagon‑5 from Cape Canaveral at 6:30 a.m. ET.

This initiative is a key step toward enabling real time data relay capabilities for low earth orbit missions, reflecting Viasat's ongoing engagement in space communications technology.

Earlier this year, Viasat completed the deployment of its ViaSat-3 constellation to expand global network capacity. The company also received a Connected Car Innovation award for enabling vehicles to access its L band satellite network outside cellular coverage. These milestones highlight Viasat’s continued focus on satellite communications for government and commercial applications.
