Davos 2026 highlights tokenization and stablecoins in global finance
WEF Davos 2026 shifts crypto debate toward real-world integration

From January 19 to 23, the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. This year’s Forum theme is “The Spirit of Dialogue,” meaning that cryptocurrencies in Davos will likely be discussed in the context of interaction with traditional finance.

The UK’s Guardian has called Davos 2026 a last attempt to save the existing global order. However, already published Forum reports suggest a different focus—how to prepare for irreversible changes such as the introduction of global tariffs, shifts in supply chains, or the full integration of artificial intelligence into business processes.

In the official Forum agenda, at least two key sessions are dedicated to digital assets and blockchain: “Is Tokenization the Future?” and “Where Are We on Stablecoins?”. These sessions focus on asset tokenization and the role of stablecoins in modern finance, signaling a shift from debating usefulness toward more practical questions of integrating digital assets into existing financial systems.

Industry leaders back tokenization and stablecoins

The sessions feature prominent figures from the crypto industry, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. Speakers from traditional financial institutions are also expected, including the head of the Central Bank of France and representatives of Euroclear.

According to Coincu, Armstrong is in Davos to discuss the role of cryptocurrencies in promoting economic freedom. His agenda includes how digital currencies can improve financial systems and their evolving market structure. In his speeches, Armstrong intends to emphasize how asset tokenization can democratize access to capital.

In addition to the official WEF sessions, Davos also hosts a separate event, “9th Annual Blockchain Central Davos 2026,” organized by the Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC). This is a dedicated crypto-focused event held alongside the WEF, featuring its own panels and speakers. At the time of writing, the program for this part of the forum had not yet been published on the WEF website.
